Nick Cave And The Bad Seeds Review

Album:Dig!!! Lazarus Dig!!!!

Artist:Nick Cave and The Bad

SeedsLabel Mute Records.

When an artist or band releases their 14th album, by that stage thier creative sprak has been extinguished long ago this isn’t the case for Nick Cave.

This is a great record. It’s sexy and sensual in places, dark and brooding in others and rocks in others. The lead single and first track Dig!!! Lazarus Dig!!! Takes the story of the resurrection of Lazarus and places him into present day New York.

Ultimately the attention from the media gets too much he becomes addicted to drugs and dies a homeless man. .This is a great slice of oddball rock and roll whit a dollop of pop thrown into the mix.

Other brilliant songs on this record include the ratings of We Call Upon The Author. which contains one of the best lyrics I have heard in years

” I feel Like a vaccumme cleaner/a complete sucker/ it’s fucked up and he is a fucker/ but what an emorulgy enycoplpeic bairn”.

The sensual Jesus Of The Moon. To be honest, the eniter album is a one great track after another. the only chink in the amour, is Night Of The Lotus Eaters. Even after listening to this album at least five times, it has failed to make an impact.

unlike the other tracks, it sounds as if Nick Cave And The Bad Seeds are trying to be cool, when this happens it never works.

There are no superlatives that can sum up the brilliance

of this record. it is a testament to how creative this man really and truly is, Upon frist listen, it realy purplexed me that it took so long for me to get into his music, but it’s better late then never.
