Hooker With a Heart Of Gold episode one review

Hooker with a Heart of Gold, is the latest creation by Brad Jones (creator of popular online comic reviewer the cinema snob) and is a brand new bi-weekly mini-series, of which is slated tentatively to have five episodes.

In the first episode, a young prostitute, simply known as Hooker (Sarah Lewis) who has grown tired of selling her body, and she wants to break away from her line of work. The only thing that stands in her way, in her pimp Zoloman (Brad Jones).Meanwhile,  a scientist (Brain Lewis) finds himself in debt, but believes that a machine that can re-start the hearts of the recently deceased back to life, is his ticket to being able to dig his way out debt, the only snag, is that he needs to find a freshly deceased body to prove that his new invention works.

Brad Jones puts in a stellar performance in this role, he plays this role with great intensity  but there is also a lot of humour in this character. But what makes this performance so brilliant, is that he perfectly walks the line the between being funny and frightening.
The frist episode of Hooker with a Heart of Gold, is a great piece of darkly comic drama, that hooks you in, and makes you want to see what is going to happen in the next episode.

At this stage, people have already made up their minds on Jackass, either you laugh like a drain at the stupid antics of the Jackass crew, or you hate the Jackass crews insane and stupid antics. I love these guys, so I went to see the latest instalment, which every one knows by now, was filmed in 3D. And they have used the 3D that James Cameron developed for Avatar

This movie  never needed to be in 3D, its really unnecessary, and I think that its fucking brilliant that they got their hands on cutting edge 3D technology.

And you know what, this is one of the best uses of 3D I have seen in movie, yes Jackass, a movie which is filled with shit, piss, puking and farting is the best use of 3D.

But what makes the 3D work, is that they using sparingly, so when they use the 3D technology is has all the more impact. My favourite 3D scene is when you see this big cloud of smoke, and when the smoke clears, you see this dildo coming slowly towards the camera. I nearly pissed myself when this happened.

The one scene that had me wincing the most, is when Ehren McGhehey, ties a piece of sting around one of teeth, and string is tied to the bumper of sports cars, I think that you can tell what happens.

Jackass has always been brilliant in doing public pranks, and this movie has one of the funniest public pranks that they have ever done.
The prank sees Wee man, in a bar with another little person, and they are on a date, when in walks her boyfriend, who also happens to be a little person, and as you can imagine, he is not best please. He leaves the bar, only to return with a gang, comprised completely of little people. And the little people gets involved in a fight with the gang of little people.

But it is not long before the police show up, and the police, are also little people, and they try and break up the fight. If that things weren’t crazy enough, paramedics enter, and they too are little people. So the paramedics, put someone on to a stretcher, and they drop the stretcher.
The looks of bemusement on the faces of the patrons at the bar, is priceless. They really don’t know weather to laugh hysterically or be shocked. Personally if I have been there I’d have pissed my pants laughing.

The ending of this movie was quite sad, because they played this montage of the all the crazy shit these guys have done in Jackass over the past ten years, and it felt as if they were saying goodbye. I really hope that they make Jackass 4, but this is the last time we get to see these guys together, then it was a fitting ending to Jackass.
